View the alt text applied to images without the need to inspect each image or use a screen reader. It makes the alternate text on social media posts visible to sighted users on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and more. Human generated alt-text is visible on a blue background, AI-generated alt-text has a maroon background and images without alt text (or have non-specific system-generated alt text, "Image", for example) have a red line under the image. Options allow for customization of each color and which sites view the alt text.

The latest version of Social visual alt text is available on the Chrome web and is currently being used by 831 active users. The initial version was launched on 2021-06-16.

HOW TO INSTALL Social visual alt text FROM A CRX FILE

1. Download Social visual alt text CRX file
2. NOTE: Sometimes the browser may block downloading / installing CRX file from outside the Chrome Web Store. If so, you may need to download the ZIP file instead
3. In the URL bar, go to chrome://extensions
4. Enable Developer mode
