Auto Discard Backgrounded Tabs

SUMMARY

This extension automatically discard opened tabs in the background (with ctrl). Discarded tabs consume no memory and open no additional processes (visible in Chrome's task manager). Some browsers already offer this feature (edge/brave), but tabs are deactivated after a certain time. This application does it immediately. Compatible with chrome and all chromium-based browsers (vivaldi/edge/brave...) The code is lightweight and only works when a tab is opened (less than a kilobyte). No setting and work out of the box.

The latest version of Auto Discard Backgrounded Tabs is available on the Chrome web and is currently being used by 27 active users. The initial version was launched on 2024-01-23.

HOW TO INSTALL Auto Discard Backgrounded Tabs FROM A CRX FILE

1. Download Auto Discard Backgrounded Tabs CRX file
2. NOTE: Sometimes the browser may block downloading / installing CRX file from outside the Chrome Web Store. If so, you may need to download the ZIP file instead
3. In the URL bar, go to chrome://extensions
4. Enable Developer mode
