Using this extension, researchers can get Altmetric score for research papers in Google Scholar and PubMed search results. Altmetric score is an indicator of how impactful and influential, a particular paper is. It is complementary to traditional, citation-based metrics. Altmetric score can help researchers understand where and why a piece of research is being discussed and shared, both among other scholars and in the public sphere. For e.g., they can see how a particular paper is being covered in the news, blogs and Twitter.

The latest version of Altmetric for Pubmed and Google Scholar is available on the Chrome web and is currently being used by 2,000 active users. The initial version was launched on 2021-11-18.

HOW TO INSTALL Altmetric for Pubmed and Google Scholar FROM A CRX FILE

1. Download Altmetric for Pubmed and Google Scholar CRX file
2. NOTE: Sometimes the browser may block downloading / installing CRX file from outside the Chrome Web Store. If so, you may need to download the ZIP file instead
3. In the URL bar, go to chrome://extensions
4. Enable Developer mode
