SUMMARY

With this extension, bookmarks from a central JSON source can be loaded / synced into a local bookmark directory. The reason why we've created this extension was the following: We wanted to sync bookmarks across all employees, but we didn't want to store them on a 3rd-party cloud service or alike. Because we're using (Git) merge requests, we thought it would be nice to load extensions from a Git-managed JSON file. As you can see, you can store the JSON file on a Git collaboration platform or on any other web server / service. The latest version of JSON Bookmarks is available on the Chrome web and is currently being used by 571 active users. The initial version was launched on 2020-03-15.

HOW TO INSTALL JSON Bookmarks FROM A CRX FILE

1. Download JSON Bookmarks CRX file
2. NOTE: Sometimes the browser may block downloading / installing CRX file from outside the Chrome Web Store. If so, you may need to download the ZIP file instead
3. In the URL bar, go to chrome://extensions
4. Enable Developer mode
