SUMMARY

Ta'meya, known outside of Egypt as falafel, is a deep-fried ball or patty made from ground fava beans or chickpeas, mixed with herbs, spices, and onions. It’s a popular street food in Egypt and throughout the Middle East, often served in pita bread with salad, pickles, and tahini sauce. The use of fava beans in Egyptian Ta'meya gives it a distinct flavor compared to other versions of falafel. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, Ta'meya is typically seasoned with cumin, coriander, and garlic, giving it a rich, earthy taste.
